The Southernmost Hotel in the World Is Slated to Open in 2025
How to get to Antarctica in luxury.

If you’ve dreamt of experiencing Antarctica, but aren't exactly thrilled about an arduous trek to the end of the world, we’ve got news. You’ll soon be able to make the southernmost hotel in the world your home base before the journey to the White Continent.
Silversea, a luxury travel company which usually specializes in cruises, is developing a 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, the southernmost city on Earth. The goal: add a hotel outpost as a cozy, glamorous leg on the far-out Antarctic expedition cruises the company is known for.
This hotel is currently in its fledgling development stages and is expected to be completed by and opened by the end of 2025. It’s easy to let imagination take flight knowing it will be located in Puerto Williams, though. In the mind’s eye, photographers and tourists get their cameras out quickly to take home a piece of the stunning views of the Beagle Channel, which the town faces. Mountains capped by the pearlessence of fresh snow and ice could grace the frames of a luxurious Instagram travel photo dump.
What we know for sure is that, blending in with this breathtaking landscape, the hotel will be inspired by local art and materials, according to the luxury travel company.
This hotel will represent a piece of an adventurous itinerary–specifically the company’s fly-cruise program. By operating from Puerto WIlliams, travel time to Antarctica will be reduced by about half a day, according to Silversea. Flights will be shorter from Santiago, Chile.
Guests will check in to the new hotel and relax and acclimate before waiting for a weather-willing window to travel via plane to King George Island, where they’ll board their Silversea trip to Antarctica.
As far as amenities go, guests can expect an expansive restaurant, a bar and lounge, a fitness center if you’re looking to prepare for this adventure in Antarctica, and even a gift shop.
“Silversea will offer a full program of experiences in Puerto Williams that will allow guests to experience the natural beauty of the region, including hiking, birding, fly fishing, etc. It’s an exclusive destination in itself, where guests can engage with the local culture while enjoying a world-class level of hospitality,” the Silversea team told Thrillist.
All we’re certain of is this is the most luxurious polar express we can think of.
