The Hotel From 'The Shining' is Trying to Be the Scariest Place Ever

The Stanley Hotel must have a marketing team determined to get every last guest to crap themselves. They already added a creepy maze to their grounds once before, and now the famed hotel that inspired The Shining is adding a full-on horror museum.

The Colorado hotel is seeking a $11.5 million grant, which will only cover some of the costs of the $24 million idea that would include a film production studio and film archive. Someone has got to be dying to fork over the funds. Traveling exhibits, a 500-seat auditorium, a sound stage, and post-production space are all part of the plan, which even includes starting an apprenticeship program with the Colorado Film School. Fun fact: Elijah Wood is a member of the museum's founding board. If he can deal with the terror of getting to the mountains of Mordor and back, we're pretty certain this hobbit can get the job done.

If the plan carries through, The Stanley Hotel will be a year-round fright fest and the last place on earth you'll want to bring your twin girls.
